All You Ever Wanted to Know About Insurance

InTouch Insurance Show KLAV 1230 AM for Thursday, June 21st

In this week’s InTouch Insurance Show, we discussed a couple very important aspects of coverage that should be addressed by anybody looking to get an insurance quote: limits and discounts.  Certain coverage limits can be overlooked if you do not know exactly what you need and prove costly in case of an accident, so always make sure to check with your agent and ask the following questions:

  1. How much insurance should I carry?
  2. What are your state’s minimum limits?
  3. How much do I need to protect against property damage?
  4. Are my assets at risk with my current BI limits?
  5. We recommend 100,000/300,000 for BI, which is what lessors are going to require?
  6. What if you have insufficient limits (you may have to liquidate property, savings other assets, future earnings)?
  7. What level of Uninsured Motorist/Under-Insured Motorist coverage is recommended?
  8. What does physical damage (comprehensive/collision) cover?
  9. What other coverages are recommended? For example, Medical Payments coverage may or may not be necessary, some health insurance policies may exclude injuries resulting from an auto accident, which is why you need to carefully review your health insurance coverages before turning down medical payments coverage that would cover your medical expenses. Also, keep in mind that health insurance will not pay for pain and suffering.

While some of these coverage limits may cost more depending on your situation, the good news is that there are several ways you can save money by taking advantage of one or more discounts, including:

  1. Shopping around (we at InTouch Insurance Centers can do that for you)
  2. Prior coverage
  3. Good student
  4. Advance quote
  5. Paid in Full
  6. Electronic Funds Transfer
  7. Multi-policy
  8. Multi-car
  9. Home ownership
  10. Hybrid vehicle
  11. Driver training

  13. Paperless Enrollment
